Real Flavours Straight from your Farmer to your Glass

April 05, 2019

Are you thinking about making the choice for your family to drink BC? Many of the
beverages we make here in BC are straight from the farmer to your glass. Let us help
you connect your drinks with the people that made them.

Think 100% juice: British Columbia’s fruit crops are a source of excellent fresh squeezed
and packaged juices. We’re known for our cranberry, blueberry, apple and grape juices.
The quality of our fruit and vegetables ensure that juice processors in British Columbia
have access to some of the healthiest, natural ingredients available. There are even a
huge range of juices from brands you recognize. Sun-Rype has been producing juices
and fruit snacks in Kelowna since 1946. Happy Planet was started in 1994 in Vancouver
with just one product, carrot juice and it’s been growing ever since. Bremner’s offer
options of organic and conventional juices made in Delta!

Milk, conventional and organic, is a farm product. Did you know that the average dairy
cow in BC produces 9500 litres of milk a year?

BC milk is high-quality, fresh, local, and tastes great. Milk is collected from local dairy
farms every 24 to 48 hours – and is pasteurized and the cream is separated from the
milk. Once the milk is homogenized at the various grades (skim, 1%, 2% or
homogenized), it’s packaged and sent to restaurants and stores for you to drink.

Most dairy farms are within an hour’s drive of a processing plant. And milk is
transported in a way that decreases the amount of kilometers it travels to processing
plants, reducing milk’s carbon footprint to help protect the environment. It takes only
days to get from the cow to your carton at the store!

If you want to make sure you’re buying BC, look for the blue cow logo, which guarantees
that the product is made from 100% Canadian milk.

If you are looking to switch to drinking local this May, think no further than your local
farmer and the flavours that they bottle fresh for you!
