We are a casual Kappo Style Japanese Restaurant. We serve authentic and traditional cuisine and sushi with seasonal ingredients sourced locally and from Japan. Opening in 2017, Dec. and owned by over chefs Tatsuya and Yoshi with 20 years of Japanese experience, our menu is focused on seasonal produce with 35 different food friendly BC wines.
We love to use local foods because local ingredients have a season. With vegetables in particular, it is great to know their season. Authentic Japanese cuisine needs seasonal ingredients, and we cannot do business without them. We use local foods as much as possible and we hope more and different kinds of seasonal ingredients will begin growing locally.
To do this, we need to protect our local farmers and the environment for our children in the future. They need to know the true taste of foods - organic, seasonal and soulful local products.
In May, we will be featuring Local Duck Shoyu Koji Yaki for just $14.90- Yarrow Meadows duck breast supplied through Two Rivers Meats, marinated in home-made 'Shoyu Koji', which is fermented rice malt in soy sauce. It is served with BC local Fiddleheads Ohitashi (marinated in Dashi broth) and fried local leeks. This dish is a traditional Japanese culinary technique, and Shoyu-Koji makes the duck tender and very flavourful. We recommend pairing this dish with Pinot Noir from Arrowleaf Winery in Lake Country, BC - available by the glass.
